It's no secret that most designer's love decor products and materials that are natural. Whether it's marble countertops, hardwood floors or 100% cotton pillow cases...WE ALL dig the materials that are more earth-made than MAN-made.
Yet, in life, there are always exceptions to the rules. Every designer has at least ONE!
One of mine? Faux florals.
Now don't get me wrong! I love fresh cut flowers or a gorgeous potted plant! This is SOOO NOT a post on how I prefer fake flowers to the real thing. This article is simply about how awesome faux florals can be as an ALTERNATIVE to the real deal! As a woman who often has to do more with less, it's SUPER important sometimes to think of things in LONG TERM advantages rather than in your IDEALS. In an ideal world, all interior spaces would have vases of fresh cut flowers every other week. Now unless you're ROLLING in amber coloured bills, cut florals are clearly on the very bottom of the list of financial priorities for your space. So, faux flowers can be a great solution.
Three reasons why FAUX FLORALS are an AWESOME idea:
1. You pay for them once.
Continually spending money on flowers year after year can REALLY add up! Dropping some coin on good faux florals one time ends the cycle of money leaving your bank account.
Looking for good quality florals?
TRY THIS: Connect with a designer or a floral shop. They can style you a STUNNING arrangement and get you wholesale prices on product!
2. They won't die on you.
Really busy schedule = forget to water plants. Life gets CRAZY, and I don't know about you, but I don't need the guilt of killing an adorable plant on my stressful shoulders! Faux florals provide the look of real flowers without the care they require.
Looking for a happy medium?
TRY THIS: Pick up a faux boxwood topiary made out of REAL dried boxwood. You only have to spray it with some water once a month, but it looks WAY more real than most fakes!
3. They save you time.
After running around all day slaying your workload, you can come home to a styled space WITHOUT more work to do. Now unless gardening or flowers are your stress-relief, cutting out unnecessary time from your schedule is a WISE move! You won't have to maintain these flowers or take up time constantly shopping for them either.
Don't know which florals go with your decor?
TRY THIS: Pick a SAFE BET like a faux potted orchid with white blooms or an arrangement of faux succulents in a glass terrarium. The neutral colour of the orchid goes with any scheme and soft green succelents in glass won't fight with any decor style.
The last reason I love a good faux floral arrangement is their possibility for whimsy or grandeur. You can put a flower under a glass dome like in Beauty and the Beast, without suffocating the living thing! You can mix fairy lights, glitter and other objects into your arrangements without damaging the flower or having to replace pieces that wilt or die over time. With faux florals...imagination can play a larger role alongside longevity! FAUX REAL!
